YAP Tech (Chicago)

Calendar Next available session starts Oct 5, 2026

Ages: 13 - 18

Grades 8-12
October 5-25, 2026

RMT is proud to launch the YAP Tech Crew, which runs parallel with our production of Chicago Teen Edition. Students in grades 8-12 will get hands-on experience in five theatre tech departments: Props, Scenic, Lighting, Sound, and Costuming. Taught by the RMT Production Staff, you’ll learn both the theory behind creative decisions and how to make them come to life. Then you’ll be part of the show’s run crew for the performances, joining with the cast to make it all come together. This is an incredible chance to work alongside theatre professionals and get experience with state-of-the-art technical programs.

In order to audition for this production, all students must register and pay a deposit prior to auditions.  Tuition for this opportunity is $500. Financial aid and payment plans are available. All registered students will spend two weeks learning the art of design and practical theatre skills and then the last week be integrated into the run crew of the show. Students are expected to attend all classes, rehearsals, and performances.  Registrations are open to all students grades 8-12; students should have a basic understanding of theatre before registering to participate.
