Play Making: The Little Mermaid

Rising 4K - 1st Graders

Budding artists let their imaginations run wild while they creatively explore theatrical storytelling. These half-day classes are designed to cultivate inventiveness as students learn the basics of theatre through collaboration and creative play. This week's camp will allow students to dive into Ariel’s underwater world and explore the magic of life “Under the Sea”.

Your child must be able to use the bathroom unassisted.

Theme Camp: All Aboard the Hogwarts Express (2nd & 3rd Grade)

June 22nd - 26th from 9 am– 4 pm

Rising 2nd & 3rd Graders

By cultivating original characters, students will explore what it would be like to attend Hogwarts. They’ll participate in defense against the dark arts and potions classes, in addition to being sorted into one of the four houses. This year, we’ll collaborate and creatively problem-solve to discuss what it’s like your first year at Hogwarts. Through creative group storytelling, you’ll travel beyond the pages of the books and create your own original character in the world of magic. At the end of the week, students use their newly learned acting and characterization skills in a sharing for family and friends. Through imagination and creativity, you’ll learn basic theatre fundamentals and have a great time!

The students will be split into groups of 15-25 students based on age. If you would like to request that your student be placed in the same group as their friend or sibling, please send us an email at education@redmountaintheatre.org.

Triple Threats: Princess Hits

Triple Threats is a preparatory education program for young people wishing to learn the basics of becoming a “triple threat” musical theatre performer: singing, acting, and dancing. During the week-long camp, students will learn 3-5 production numbers to be performed at the end of the week for friends and family.  In preparing for a sharing, students practice ensemble building, discipline, and memorization skills that they can take with them to their scholastic work. This week is all about rocking out to the top songs from our favorite Princesses!

The students will be split into 2 groups of 15-25 students. If you would like to request that your student be placed in the same group as their friend or sibling who may not be the same age, please send us an email at education@redmountaintheatre.org.

Theme Camp: How to Train Your Dragon

Rising 2nd - 5th Graders

By cultivating original characters, students will become master dragon trainers in the Viking village of Berk. Through creative group storytelling, students will join Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, and all of the villagers and forge their own original character (and maybe a dragon or two). At the end of the week, students use their newly learned acting and characterization skills in a sharing for family and friends. Through imagination and creativity, you’ll learn basic theatre fundamentals and have a great time!

Play Making: Mischief with Maui

By cultivating original characters, students will become the main character of their own story. What do Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, and Wall-e all have in common: main character energy. Through creative group storytelling, you too can feel what it’s like to be the star of your story by creating your own original character. At the end of the week, students use their newly learned acting and characterization skills in a sharing for family and friends. Through imagination and creativity, you’ll learn basic theatre fundamentals and have a great time!

Teen Audition Intensive: Process and Practice (July)

July 6th - 10th from 9:30 am- 4:30 pm

Rising 9th - 11th Graders

Using the audition room as a playground for growth, become your own best product.  Let our team of professionals advance your journey to being the best working artist that you can be. In this one-week intensive, you will dive deep into auditioning through focused work in singing, acting, and dancing. Take ownership of your artistic journey!

Prior to the start of camp, students must prepare:

  • a 30-60 second monologue from a play they have read
  • a 16-32 bar cut of a musical theatre song
  • a headshot and resume

Material does not need to be polished, but rather ready to be worked.

Instructors: Tawny Stephens (Acting Technique), Daley Dressler (Song Interpretation), and TBA (Dance)

Daily Schedule:

  • Dance - students will explore a variety of theatre dance styles through learning and breaking down the choreography for mock auditions.
  • Acting - students will work their chosen monologue by applying different theatrical techniques.
  • Song Interpretation - students will navigate the acting choices within their musical audition cut through one-on-one coaching featuring live accompaniment.
  • Audition Package - These daily workshops will focus on how to achieve "Success in the Audition Room".

At the end of the week, students will participate in a mock audition where they will receive feedback from local industry professionals. There will also be a parent meeting on Friday from 3:30-4:30 pm, for those who can attend.
