Theme Camp: Hogwarts Yule Ball

By cultivating original characters, students will explore what it would be like to attend Hogwarts and celebrate the Yule Ball. They’ll be sorted into houses, participate in classes, and play creative games within the halls of this magical school. Through imagination, we’ll travel beyond the pages of the books.

Blast Camp: The Trick of Time

Blast Camps are fun, week-long camps in which students experience musical theatre performance. They build confidence by rehearsing a short script written specifically for RMT, and they perform at the end of the week in front of a supportive community of family and friends. In preparing for a performance, students learn discipline and memorization skills that they can take with them to their scholastic work.

This Week’s Script is The Trick of Time. Josephine and her friends make a New Year’s Resolution to never grow up. Father Time has other plans though – if children decided to never grow up, his World of Time is changed forever. A secret potion proves to these kids that messing with Time never works out well.

Youth Tap

Students will refine their understanding of tap dancing, including rhythm, steps, and choreographic sequences.  Prior to the starting class, students will be sorted in to beginner and intermediate skill level by RMT staff.

Students will learn about 4 different styles of dance used in musical theatre performance: ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance. Learn how to dance your heart out for the back row of a Broadway theatre! This class will introduce students to varying styles while emphasizing learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience, and telling a story using your whole body.

Students will be exposed to the transformative technique of acting. Learn to tell incredible stories using only your body, voice, and imagination. This is an excellent option for beginner- to intermediate-level students, and will focus on truthful storytelling, character, and basic skills for reading scripts!

This week’s script is Those Fabulous Places. When Bridget, Kitt, and Elle move to a new town, they need a surefire way to make friends. What better way than take their new classmates on a trip around the world! Set to the tune of various Broadway songs, this is a fun-filled trip you won’t want to miss!

Theme Camp: Royalty

May 27th - 30th from 9:30 - 4:30 pm (Please note there is no class on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.)

Ages 7-12

By cultivating original characters, students will explore a kingdom of their own making! Have you ever wondered what is would be like to be a prince or princess? King or queen? Now’s your chance to step into some royal shoes (or glass slippers) and wear the crown of your own original character. At the end of the week, students use their newly learned acting and characterization skills in a sharing for family and friends. Through imagination and creativity, you’ll learn basic theatre fundamentals and have a great time!

The students will be split into 3 groups of 15-25 students based on age. If you would like to request that your student be placed in the same group as their friend or sibling who may not be the same age, please send us an email at education@redmountaintheatre.org.

Blast Camp: Wizard of AL

Blast Camps are fun, week-long camps in which students put their musical theatre performance skills to the test. Through rehearsals focused on singing, acting, and dancing, students build confidence by rehearsing a short script written specifically for RMT. At the end of the week, they perform in front of a supportive community of family and friends. In preparing for a performance, students learn discipline and memorization skills that they can take with them to their scholastic work.

In this week’s camp, it’s “The Wizard of Oz”, but not as you know it.  Dotty Mae is a lonely girl who gets swept up into the mysterious land of AL.  With her new friends, she must travel to find the great Wizard who can send her home.  This southern take on a classic story includes music from the movie as well as from Wicked.
